Headway Transportation was retained by the City of Oroville and Butte County Association of Governments (BCAG) as the prime consultant for this multimodal corridor study on State Route 162 in Oroville, CA. This study focused on bicycle and pedestrian improvements as well as identifying practical solutions for local traffic congestion and safety issues. The project was funded by a Caltrans Transit Planning for Sustainable Communities grant.
Through a process of extensive public outreach and field visits, the Headway team, along with our partners, worked hard to develop innovative strategies to help improve safety for all modes, enhance the pedestrian and bicycling environments, and create a more attractive corridor. Headway created a georeferenced database of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure including sidewalk widths, pinch points, potential hazards, and existing connectivity gaps. This database was used to identify specific pedestrian and bicycling connectivity and accessibility issues throughout the corridor and helped guide the development of alternatives. In addition, Headway analyzed corridor operations and developed strategies and recommendations to better accommodate the easy and safe movement of all modes.
