Headway Transportation was retained as the prime consultant to develop a comprehensive Safe Routes to School Master Plan for all eight middle and elementary schools in Carson City, NV.  As part of this project, Headway utilized a cutting-edge technique of capturing high-quality aerial footage to identify transportation circulation patterns and assess overall mode shares during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up periods.  Headway is currently developing an extensive suite of recommendations following meetings with staff and site visits at all eight schools in conjunction with analyzing existing condition datasets.  In order to be work with planned and future school zone changes, the plan will identify strategies for developing a network of pedestrian and bicycle facilities which will provide safe routes for all children to access all eight elementary and middle schools. The final Safe Routes to School Master Plan will include recommendations for each individual school as well as a completely prioritized list of all recommended projects across Carson City.
